Belle Perdue Yard Sale March 6

Belle Perdue Yard Sale March 6

Just got word that Belle Perdue is having a yard sale at Full Moon Market in Plaquemine on Friday March 6, 6pm-9pm. Here's what they will have on offer: (please note that these are miniature items and will very much be available for purchase at the very real Full Moon Market in Plaquemine)

Belle Perdue Yard Sale

Red wingback chair ($25)

Miss Lettie said her T’pops made this chair. It was his one and only hand at making furniture. Big Mama took one look at it and said “Charles, all them wavy lines make me feel tipsy like I’d fall right outta that thing. If you want it to stand a chance of being sat in you best just bring it on out to the work shed.” T’pops did, although he admits it was tipsy and he only sat in it when it was secured by the corner of the shed. He went on to be the town cobbler for 40 years.

Cathedral Radio ($10)

Darryl Poche found this in the old house. Said he remembered his father listening to the agricultural report every weekend for news on vine borers. Eventually tossed it in the attic for being heretical. Still picks up University of Lafayette’s radio station like it’s the only station worth the dial.

Dramatic headboard ($20)

Martha found this while cleaning out the storage in back of the grocery. She has no idea where it came from but said it was sore pretty she hoped the other half was somewhere. Got it in her head that it belongs to star-crossed lovers who split the bed to remember each other by. Martha is a romantic. Fran Fern let out a little gasp when she saw it, if anybody saw that and understood it they stayed hushed about it.

Hanging sled ($7)

Todd said he’s got some trickster cousin live up in Boston that sent him this sled for Christmas when he was a kid. His dad said “son, that’d get more use hanging on the wall.” So that’s what they did, scrapped the metal bits and framed the wood bits. They’d laugh because those cousins live in a highrise and ain’t seen a sledable hill their whole lives.

Gothic chair ($15)

This came from over in Livonia. One of their pastors was digging through an old closet and found this chair. Said he felt a touch of the devil in it and decided we should have it in Belle Perdue. Not sure what to make of that, feels like a plain ole chair to me.

Old Headstone ($5)

George said his meemaw didn’t want this anymore once the Good Lord was ready to take her. Said she picked it out during a morbid stage of life and thought she ought do better. Never used.

Bookshelf ($5)

Zora made this when she upgraded from her cinderblock bookshelf. Now she has built-ins for all her books and CB radio do-dads. Library couldn’t use it neither. Thought it might be good for a kids room. OBO

Side table ($20)

Joe bought this back in his Hollywood days. Said it didn’t fit his s’thetic anymore. Said it was genuine Chinatown piece and I believe him cause Joe don’t tell stories unless he’s acting. And even then you start worrying about Mary’s little lamb waiting all day outside the school house, course I never seen a lamb at the schoolhouse. Yet.
